Marmara Positron / Positronium Laboratory (MARPOS) is a laboratory which was established to reveal the structural features of materials such as hole defects and free volume. The techniques of measurement are based on Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy (PALS) and Doppler Broadenning Annihilation Radiation (DBAR). They are used in the diagnosis and identification of angstrom size (up to 10 angtrom) structural holes as a unique technique.
This laboratory was founded in Physics Department at Marmara University and supported by DPT (old name: State Planning Organization-new name-Minsitry of Developement), TUBITAK and Marmara University BAPKO. The laboratory actively contributes to national and international collaborations. Some studies are classified as volumetric and film materials and given below.
Studies with Bulk Materials;
Description of the conduction mechanism of Li-batteries by structural holes,
Establishing the relation between the characterization and free volume of composite materials such as PU,
Investigation of structural characterization of nano-doped structures of polymers like PMMA by free volume model,
Investigation of structural cavities of PAMAM dendrimers.
Surface Depth Defect Profile of Materials such as Films, Coatings, etc.
Surface depth profile of radiation exposed materials such as alpha, beta, gamma and neutron,
Material characterization by the surface defect profile depending on the film thickness,
Examining the depth defect profile of Lantanium-based Perovskite film materials made on glass and silicon substrate.
